8th Grade Health: Disease/Condition/Disorder Project: Home

You have recently graduated from college and have just landed your first full-time job! 

Thanks to your extensive science background, you have been hired as a Youth Educator by the Tredyffrin/Easttown Health Organization (TEHO).  Your position requires you to research diseases/conditions/disorders that affect members of the community and present your work to students within the Tredyffrin/Easttown School District. 

Task

Your supervisors at the Tredyffrin/Easttown Health Organization, Mrs. Himes and Mr. Bush, have just given you your first assignment:

 

Sometime between Tues. 10/27 and Wed. 11/4 (depending on what cycle days your class meets for health), you will visit the eighth grade health classrooms at Tredyffrin/Easttown Middle School and speak to the students about a disease/condition/disorder that affects the human body. 

 

 

Your supervisors will allow you to choose which topic you will present about from a list.  Your supervisors have high expectations for you.  The overall goals for your presentation are:

 

  • To be informative

  • To present material in a manner that 13 and 14 year olds can understand

  • To be interesting and hold the attention of your 8th grade audience

  • Informative materials must be left for the students

Grading

Grading:

* Notes/Research pages – 40 points (4 different sources – 10 points per notes page)

* Health Fair Presentation – 100 points

* Health Fair Presentation Questions – 2 points per presentation

 

DUE DATES WILL BE ANNOUNCED IN CLASS!

 

** Late projects will receive severe penalties.

Projects received one class late will receive 10 points off the total grade. 

Beyond one class late, the project will receive a zero.**
